Countdown to the 2009 St George's Day Lunch

2009 speaker, Mr Adger Brown

The 7th Annual St George's Day Lunch, which takes place on Friday April 24th, is nearly upon us and everything is in place for another outstanding afternoon and early evening! The venue is of course 'Frankie's Bar and Grill' in Chiswick, home to last year's hugely successful event and we can again anticipate another fine meal, free-flowing wine and after lunch we can look forward to top-class entertainment from comedian Adger Brown.

Many of the 120 guests attending will be registering their fourth, fifth or six St George’s Lunches, while some indeed have the full-house! One honourable guest will see their support and contribution recognized with the annual ‘George of the Year’ award and those who got their payments in promptly in February will vie for the Magnum of Champagne in recognition of their commitment.

Following Mr.Brown's comic interlude we have an additional surprise for you all, notably for those guests who have enjoyed our traditional sing-songs at the close of each lunch. You'll have to wait until the day to see what we've got in store, but don't rush off and be ready to move to the smaller function room next to the bar to continue the event into the early evening!

Finally, please note that this year we will not be meeting at the Moran Hotel for early drinks, and instead will convene at Frankie’s from mid-day.

A Most Deserving Charity...

Each year the St George's Day Lunch has made a donation to a worthwhile organisation and the 2009 lunch is proud to be supporting "Help for Heroes", a charity established to provide support for wounded servicemen in need of more care than that currently provided by our government.

A number of SGDL regulars are very committed to this issue and feel that while it shouldn't be necessary, it is, and so it's incumbent upon us to do something to help those who risk their lives in representing our country.

Please do visit the "Help for Heroes" website via the link and support them with any donation you feel able to offer.
